Team 1646 is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team here in Lafayette, IN that has been competing in FRC since 2005. Our team is made up of 7 passionate and dedicated students from Jefferson High School in grades 9-12. Teachers from Jefferson high school, members of the local community, and students from the nearby Purdue University make up our mentoring team, who help our students as we learn about the importance of teamwork, community, and of course, building robots!
We meet throughout the year, but we meet the most frequently from early January to late April, during the FRC competition season. During this time, we meet as many days a week as we can after school, and all day on Saturdays in order to design, build, and program a 125-pound robot. During the rest of the year, we utilize our robot to go to community events where we demonstrate what our robot can do, along with other small science demonstrations to help engage and inspire our community.
